Prescription Policy for Patients Abroad

Effective Date- Immediately

Policy Statement: Due to the complexities of healthcare regulations across different countries, limitations in verifying patient information, and the inability to conduct thorough clinical assessments in person, our surgery will not issue prescriptions to patients who are abroad at the time of the request.

Purpose: To ensure safe and appropriate prescribing practices and comply with legal and regulatory requirements, our surgery does not provide prescriptions to patients who are currently outside the country.

Details:

· Prescriptions will only be provided to patients who are physically present within the country where the surgery operates.

· Patients currently abroad should seek medical advice and prescriptions from local healthcare providers.

· In cases of urgent medical need while abroad, patients are advised to contact emergency or local medical services.

· This policy helps ensure patient safety, maintains the integrity of clinical decision-making, and complies with applicable laws.

Exceptions:

· None. All prescription requests must be made while the patient is in-country.

Implementation: Reception and clinical staff will confirm the patient’s location prior to processing any prescription request. Any requests from patients identified as abroad will be politely declined with an explanation of this policy.

Review: This policy will be reviewed annually or as needed to reflect changes in healthcare regulations and practice standards.
